What is a Sick Leave in COL?
A Sick Leave in Colombia (COL) is an economic benefit provided by Health Promotion Entities (EPS) to affiliates who cannot perform their work due to physical or mental health issues.
I am not yet a regular employee, am I eligible for this?
Yes, employees that are under the probationary period and regular employees are eligible for this benefit. Additionally, employees should be registered and contributing to Colombian Social Security System. Employees should also present a medical certificate which should be attached to the leave request.
For the first two days of sick leave, the employer covers 100% of the employee’s salary. Starting from the third day, the employer is responsible for paying 66.7% of the employee’s salary.
