Colombia Pre-Regularization Period/Probation Period

The Pre-Regularization Period, or Probationary Period in Colombia, is a 2-month trial phase beginning on an employee's first day and ending 2 months later (e.g., October 30 to December 29). This period allows both the employer and employee to assess if the role is a good fit.

Evaluation Procedure

During this time, your performance is closely monitored and reviewed by your supervisor or manager. These reviews focus on job knowledge, skills, attitude, compliance, and overall performance. Feedback is provided during the 3rd and 5th weeks via FiltaHR, highlighting both strengths and areas needing improvement.

Employment Sanction and Termination

The employer can terminate the probationary employment for:

  • Just causes outlined in the Employee Handbook and the Colombia Labor Code.
  • Authorized cases as defined by the Labor Code.
  • Failure to meet set behavioral or performance standards.
  • Negative results from a background check.

If you do not meet the probationary period's requirements, termination can occur. However, due process must be followed, including giving the appropriate notice.
